(Oscars, Oscars, Oscars - and - Leap.)

My head is spinning.  I had no idea so much math and history went into this Leap Year stuff.  It includes Julius Caesar, Greek astronomers, the Roman Republic, B.C. and A.C., the 'solar year,' Popes, a Gregorian calendar, and long division.  I'll finish with this tidbit of science:  Superman was born in a Leap Year, Feb. 29th.   Super men, are hard to come by.

Had friends at the King's game last night.  Reminded me of this sweetie video from Hockeyland.

Since the Dec. 2nd terrorist attack at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino California, their offices have received hundreds and hundreds of letters and cards ... banners, posters, and emails.    " 'I don't know of any other word to describe it other than amazing,' said Trudy Raymundo, director of the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health, on Monday."  Commented fellow director Corwin Porter, "It's one of the bright spots that has kept our spirits up a lot through these times - the outpouring of concern and love and support."         news

Cooking a large batch of green beans for a church activity, a "woman said she found a severed snake head in a can."  At first she thought it was just a burnt bean, until looking closer she saw eyes.  (Snake eyes, one could say. Lol lol lol.)   Although queasy the next day, "she's not mad" and pointed out that a sense of humor always helps.

Novelist Harper Lee has died.   Lee was the world renowned "To Kill a Mockingbird" author.  ~~Many a school child's (and adult's) good read!     "The world knows Harper Lee was a brilliant writer but what many don't know is that she was a extraordinary woman of great joyfulness, humility and kindness," said "Michael Morrison, head of HarperCollings U.S. general books . . . "   What better attributes to be known for?          news

Every year I'm tempted to buy a Goats in Trees calendar.   I mean but really, right?!   It's da'best.    And so, their little goat minds tell them to go climb a tree.  Our little human minds have done worse!  ( ... and better.)

Essay writing at it's finest:

It is my birthday today, so I get to write whatever I want AND pick a favorite random quote (or two).  (Then again, I do make the rules here.  So this isn't so extraordinary.)
I was on a plane ride home yesterday.  I'm not a great flyer.  I don't enjoy it.  I'm a little bit nervous.  I like people, I don't like people.  I like to use a normal sized restroom.  I feel like I can't relax.  I believe in seat belts, but don't always want to wear them.

Life is like---yes, a box of chocolates, #1 you never know what you're going to get, and, #2 always spit out the bad stuff---but it is also like a plane ride.  Right down to the 'put your own oxygen mask on before helping someone else' bit.  Case in point:  Pay your own way, watch for warning lights, bring something to read (ever learning), enjoy the view(!),  it's not all about the destination but the journey too, and if you're tired, sleep.  There are highs, and there are lows.  You can fly, and you can land.

It's this simple.  When you're young you think about presents on your birthday, when you're middle ground you think 'Queen for the Day,' when old(ish), you pontificate about life.
