TOP TO BOTTOM

As the local Arizona Public Service rep, Kevin Hartigan is basically in charge of keeping the Grand Canyon open.  There are power lines, for instance, headed from rim to canyon bottom that are 7000 feet long.  "Without power, the water pumps in the park stop working.  If the pumps stop working, water no longer flows into faucets, toilets, showers and drinking fountains . . . . If there is no water, the park must close."   The buck stops with Hartigan.    Interesting read -  story

GET THE LED OUT

The face off in court between Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" and American band Spirit's "Taurus" (which you can listen to here), continues.  Did the Zepp rip the rift?  Nah, says music expert Lawrence Ferrara.  That same chord progression "musical element was used 300 years ago, as well as in many pop songs since then."    Some melodies make for a Good foundation, obvi.

SOLD!

Sell a printer on Craigslist, get $40, and then find yourself "liable for about $30,000 in damages."  (Because the buyer accuses you of false advertising and selling a "malfunctioning printer with missing parts.")   And pay a lawyer about $12,000 to dig out of the mess.  Or don't.  It's a crap-shoot.        story
