GIVE ME A 'Y' GIVE ME AN 'O'

Where there are football players, there are cheerleaders!  These ladies (see link) worked hard, to make the Los Angeles Chargers squad.  In other news, you may not have to do the splits to make your own dreams come true.   (Sigh of relief emoji...)     news

GIRL POWER

International Women's Day.  I'm grateful for all the opportunities women Do have in the States.  And I'm grateful for good mothers; the hand that rocks the cradle.  Truly.   And in Italy, March 8th includes cake.  Every International Day is better with cake, no?

Principle in the type:  "Never have women had greater influence than in today’s world.  Never have the doors of opportunity opened wider for them.  This is an inviting, exciting, challenging and demanding period of time for women.  It is a time rich in rewards if we keep our balance, learn the true values of life, and wisely determine priorities.”   Bella Smith Spafford

OMGolly!  Bob Harper a heart attack?  The Biggest Loser, Oprah, Sir Healthalot, Bob Harper?!   "He was working out in a NYC gym 2 weeks ago when he collapsed."   Luckily Harper is well on the mend.  Lessons.  If there is one thing we can expect in life, it's the unexpected.      news

TOP TO BOTTOM

As the local Arizona Public Service rep, Kevin Hartigan is basically in charge of keeping the Grand Canyon open.  There are power lines, for instance, headed from rim to canyon bottom that are 7000 feet long.  "Without power, the water pumps in the park stop working.  If the pumps stop working, water no longer flows into faucets, toilets, showers and drinking fountains . . . . If there is no water, the park must close."   The buck stops with Hartigan.    Interesting read -  story

I listened to this Ray Charles version during our fireworks display last July 4th.  It hit my sweet spot.  Enjoy.  And Happy Labor Day Weekend, you Americans you!!

DETAILS, DETAILS...

Sooo, where is NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory really located?  Pasadena, you say?  La Cañada, you think?  Well, "technically, La Cañada won JPL from Pasadena in 1976 when it incorporated as a city, but Pasadena has succeeded in annexing the campus in the court of public opinion."   (Think The Big Bang Theory, and The Martian, as two recent JPL 'Pasadena' groupies.)   True the mailing address shows Pasadena, but physically it is in La Cañada.   At least both cities know a good thing when they see it!   story

Here's to a simpler day:
