SWITCHEROO

photo by Disney / ABC Television Group

It was La La Land producer Jordan Horowitz, who finally righted the goof-up wrongly announced Oscar award for Best Picture to La La Land.  On stage as some La La peers still celebrated  "Mr. Horowitz said — “There’s a mistake.  ‘Moonlight,’ you guys won best picture.”    Hey, you win some you lose some, right?  Sometimes within the same 5 minutes!    news

SPECIAL DELIVERY

I'm not sure how they thought this was going to work out, but "a mother who mailed drugs to her incarcerated daughter is now an inmate in the same Florida jail."  I don't know, is it at the least a 'two-wrongs-don't-make-a-right," sorta story?   news

HOT DOG!

Continuing on the stuffing one's face theme, --that hot dog affair spoken of in yesterday's post.   Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest, of course!   Held each July 4th, on Coney Island.    This year conquered "by the greatest eater in the history of mankind."  (A title I answer to as well, truth be told.)   Joey Chestnut reinstated himself as king - by eating 70 hot dogs!   news

GET THE LED OUT

The face off in court between Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" and American band Spirit's "Taurus" (which you can listen to here), continues.  Did the Zepp rip the rift?  Nah, says music expert Lawrence Ferrara.  That same chord progression "musical element was used 300 years ago, as well as in many pop songs since then."    Some melodies make for a Good foundation, obvi.

MANNING TIMES 2

I did not shoot coke out my nose laughing when I saw this video.  But I would have, if i'd been drinking coke.  So funny.  And thus finishes a perfect romp through football'ness this week.

A CHANGE UP

The New York brownstone made famous for making Audrey Hepburn look good in Breakfast at Tiffanys (or maybe she did 'looking good' all on her own---) just changed hands again.  Listed for $10 million in 2014, it sold in June for $7.4 with word of renovation headed it's way.   story

FOUNDATION CRACKS

Forget polar bears, high adventure, and extreme weather -- in Alaska you can watch ice!  Or at least watch it crack.  Or at least wait around, to watch it, get ready to crack.  "Thousands of people each year pay to try to guess the exact date and time the ice will break up on the Tanana River in Nenana, Alaska. . . . A clock is connected by cable to a wooden tripod anchored in the river ice, "that will tip when the ice cracks, stopping a connected clock (news link).
