ACA-SCUSE ME??

photo by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

Granada Hills High School, in California, has "won its fifth U.S. Academic Decathlon national championship" in six years!   I don't mean to brag, but Granada Hills is three towns over from where I grew up, two towns away from where I live now, and immediately below me when I fly out on trips.   So you know, fo'getta'bout'it! I'm practically on their team!     news

Novelist Harper Lee has died.   Lee was the world renowned "To Kill a Mockingbird" author.  ~~Many a school child's (and adult's) good read!     "The world knows Harper Lee was a brilliant writer but what many don't know is that she was a extraordinary woman of great joyfulness, humility and kindness," said "Michael Morrison, head of HarperCollings U.S. general books . . . "   What better attributes to be known for?          news

Did school start this week for your babies?  It did in my town.  Do me a favor, try not to make these cuties cry on their first day!

LINCOLNISMS

It has been 150 years since Abraham Lincoln's death.  We remember him, honor him, and still learn from his character and leadership.  In school, "students respond to the president being the 'quintessential American self-made man' and for his 'work holding the country accountable' to its stated ideals . . . (news story)"      Well done, Mr. President.
