SERMONS

Photo by Glacier National Park - HDR

Happy 100th, National Parks!  You don't look a day over ... well, actually, some of you look quite old.  But beautiful!     story

Principle in the type:  Yet is full of charming company, full of God's thoughts, a place of peace and safety amid the most exalted grandeur and eager enthusiastic action, a new song, a lace of beginnings abounding in first lessons of life, mountain-building, eternal, invincible, unbreakable order; with sermons in stones, storms, trees, flowers, and animals brimful of humanity. . . Oh My Gosh I have so many videos in queue Always for your entertainment!  What's a blogger to do?   Well this weekend, I'm pairing Wednesday's "black bear" wandering into a "La Canada Flintridge," California "neighborhood andcooling  "off in a swimming pool," with last year's same-neck-of-the-woods video of, well, you'll see.  I mean this is good stuff to us urbanites!   Big city news~        news

FLOW

I don't know what to be:  Thrilled by the volunteers cleaning out the L.A. River, or disgusted by the truck loads of trash and filth pulled from the L.A. River.  You wouldn't believe what I've seen.  The clean-up sponsored by the Friends of the L.A. River is scheduled "over three consecutive Saturdays in the month of April."   Some are mess makers.  Some are mess cleaner uppers.    news

HURRY UP AND SLOW DOWN

If ostriches hailed from Ireland (weaving in yesterday's holiday here), they would always finish St. Patrick's Day parades first.

HOLD ON

Had a doozy week, how 'bout you?  It's time for a classic Throw Back Friday, "it's going to be okay," 90's anthem.  I feel better already!

THE BOWIE

Albert Brooks Tweeted:  "R.I.P David Bowie.  Took creativity and wrung its neck."   Bowie, 18 months after being diagnosed with cancer, died Sunday at the age of 69.  "The legendary musician known for musical innovation and experimentation with his image," left his mark for sure.  Music wise I'm a fan of Boys Keep Swinging, Oh! You Pretty Things and Space Oddity (below).  Space Oddity overplayed?  Nah.  It's brilliant.   Goodnight, Ziggy.              news

Principle in the type: "The more often we see the things around us - even the beautiful and wonderful things - the more they become invisible to us.  That is why we often take for granted the beauty of this world:  the flowers, the trees, the birds, the clouds - even those we love.  Because we see things so often, we see them less and less."     Joseph B. Wirthlin

(Sidenote:  here's Space Oddity with Kristin Wiig in a so inspiring scene from one of me'all'time favorite movies The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.  Yes, it shows Spanish sub-titles, because A) maybe you speak Spanish? and B) other versions showed too many clips of the movie and it's most important you see it yourself.)
