TALENT'Y

Ah, you know, these guys are just cute.  If it's a set-up or not, I don't know.  But I'm a sucker for some of these Got Talent, clips.  I still cry at  Susan Boyle, I Dreamed A Dream.    What?  You thought I had a heart of stone?  I don't!

FINISH LINES

Kenya's Elisha Barno won the men's L.A. Marathon yesterday, with an expert time of 2:11:51.   At less than 3 miles to finish, when lead runner Daniel Limo began to pull ahead Barno told himself 'Let him go.'   However, Barno's heart told him different, and he battled back to win.   " 'There was a lot of pain, but I had to stay patient and I had to keep pushing,' Bruno said."     news

DIRECTION

I gotta tell you.  I'm okay with humans still driving their vehicles.  Ohio's toll road may see self-driving cars next year.  "Not necessarily driverless...but with someone in the driver's seat whose role is to primarily make sure the vehicle's guidance system" is on task.  Testing begins in months.  I'm reading about a thousand details that need yet perfecting.  (If there is such a thing as perfecting those thousand details.)   Call me, Not On Board.     news

COMING TO A FORK IN THE FAIRWAY

When the Ann Landers advice column suggested not washing one's golf balls in one's kitchen sink, hoopla erupted.  "We routinely wash fruits and vegetables in the kitchen sink, and they have dirt and chemicals on them. . . . Get over it!" said one reader.  Another, "everyone uses the ball washers at each tee or wets a towel and wipes them," not a big deal.  It went on and on from there.  The point is I think - make your reasoned decision, and do it!        story

MO

Hey, it was Mozart's birthday yesterday?  You knew?  Mozart wrote hundreds and hundreds of pieces of music.  Some pretty good stuff too.  Of course geniuses had more time on their hands back then.  They weren't endlessly watching Robot Wars, or The Kardashians.    When Mozart moved away to Vienna, it was after he'd been "fired for the third time . . . decided enough was enough," and left to be a freelancer.  Sometimes we gotta do what we gotta do.    story
