FRENCHY

Really?  It's National French Toast Day?  After a weekend like Thanksgiving do we really need sky-high amusement park breakfast platters?  At least that's how I envision celebrating French Toast.  And for me - no leftover turkey, French Toast recipes.   But you choose.  It's a free country!   story

THANKS

It's that time of the year again!  Thanksgiving.  Enjoy the foodie video.  Kiddos are tasting Thanksgiving side dishes, mostly of years gone by.  Happy about marshmallow covered sweet potatoes arriving on the Thanksgiving scene!  I can't quit you, marshmallow covered sweet potatoes.  (Nowhere but America, am I right or am I right?)

I'm enjoying the girl who proclaims, "it's bad and good at the same time."  Me thinks she spurts out guru-like life wisdom.

While there is much that is wrong in the world today, there are many things that are right and good. There are marriages that make it, parents who love their children and sacrifice for them, friends who care about us and help us, teachers who teach. Our lives are blessed in countless ways."    Thomas S. Monson

HALLELUJAH

While 82 years old, Leonard Cohen's death still came somewhat unexpectedly.  His most known and covered song may be Hallelujah.  It's deep and has been widely interpreted.  The first line, "Now, I've heard there was a secret chord/That David played, and it pleased the Lord," is my favorite.  Makes me think of God, and of music.  Two of my favorite thoughts.     news

THE SHOW MUST GO ON

photo by Ana y María Quintana y González

I am pretty upset about when Beyoncé's earring got ripped off her ear as she sang and danced at a New York City concert.   I mean, I know there is more important news?   But I just can't get that picture out of my head!   I can't un-see it.   Remember?   It was October scary!   "As blood started to drip down her earlobe, Beyoncé wiped her ear and continued performing..."    Girl's gotta do ---   story

TOP TO BOTTOM

As the local Arizona Public Service rep, Kevin Hartigan is basically in charge of keeping the Grand Canyon open.  There are power lines, for instance, headed from rim to canyon bottom that are 7000 feet long.  "Without power, the water pumps in the park stop working.  If the pumps stop working, water no longer flows into faucets, toilets, showers and drinking fountains . . . . If there is no water, the park must close."   The buck stops with Hartigan.    Interesting read -  story

HELLO KISSES

photo by Prayitno / Thank you for (11 millions +) views

The woman in the iconic V-J Day Times Square celebratory kiss with a sailor, Greta Zimmer Friedman passed away in September at the age of 92.  "As the perfect strangers locked lips, world famous photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt snapped four pictures in just 10 seconds."   I suppose when a World War ends, you tend to want to kiss someone!     news
