Often the goal in a reading assignment is to pull out the meaning--whether hidden, real, or subjective. Watching or reading the news can be similar that. Sometimes one has to dig a little, but usually there's a principle or valuable tidbit that can be gleaned. Even fluff speaks to principles and in fact it may be my biggest resource. I believe there are universal truths. Case in point: Doing good makes you feel better about yourself. Some may not call a universal truth what I call a universal truth, but that only means one or both of us are off the mark. Truth exists whether we have found it or not. Hey, besides just being updated or entertained by the news of the day---why not find a little direction in it? Follow along, and see what's hidden in the type.
