REMEMBER

Did you know Memorial Day was originally created to honor soldiers--of both sides--who died in the Civil War?   Happy Memorial Day.  What to do?  This Huffington Post article offers "How to Celebrate Memorial Day" with over a dozen ideas, all for under $30.  A couple activities even have something to do with Memorial Day.   That's aces.     story

GIRL POWER

I generally like my cash money  --coins, chocolate with gold foil around them.  But I'm also okay with paper note $20 bills, with Harriet Tubman pictured.  "Harriet Tubman and Andrew Jackson lived on opposite sides of the American experience. . . .  Tubman, a black woman, escaped slavery to become a conductor on the Underground Railroad, risking her life to lead slaves to freedom.    news

BEACH BOYS

Life is a beach.  For real.  Waves at Lunada Bay in Palos Verdes, California, have called to surfers and the likes for decades.  Allegations exist that a gang of middle-age locals consider the hot spot their territory and harass any who infringe.  "For years, beachgoers and witnesses have accused the Bay Boys . . . of . . . bombarding outsiders," with a string of physical and verbal attacks.     story

"Exaggerator rained on Nyquist's parade at the Preakness."   Though Nyquist won The Kenturcky Derby, and was unbeaten in eight career starts leading up to the Preakness Stakes, it was not to be at the Pimlico Race Course Saturday.  Nyquist finished third, behind even longshot Cherry Wine.   Such is life.    news

SUPERHEROine

I could never sit through the new Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - at the movies, at home, or in my sleep.  But that's me.   Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot told People magazine she has enjoyed playing the role of WW in the movie.  "She is all about love and compassion and truth and justice.  There is nothing not to like!"
