INSIDE MATTERS

Wasn't a fan of the tummy talk, following Super Bowl.  You remember?  The Super Bowl Halftime Show?  Turned out Lady Gaga's tummy is real and even bounces when she sings and dances?  ...Paleeze!  Yes, lady bodies' jiggle and tighten and change and shrink and grow.  All of the above.  Duh.  Let's look a little deeper, shall we?  Good'on'ya Gaga for not taking any guff on this one.    story

Principle in the type:   "She was beautiful, but not like those girls in the magazines.  She was beautiful, for the way she thought.  She was beautiful, for that sparkle in her eyes when she talked about something she loved.  She was beautiful, for her ability to make people smile even when she was sad.  No, she wasn't beautiful for something as temporary as her looks.  She was beautiful, deep down in her soul."      F. Scott Fitzgerald

LET'S GO!

It's Fall!  This first weekend of October is one of my absolute favorites.  Makes me want to happy dance, like this (what, you think I can't??):

Principle in the type:  "One is happy as a result of one's own efforts, once one knows the necessary ingredients ... simple tastes, a certain degree of courage, self-denial to a point, love of work, and, above all, a clear conscience."      George Sand

HOT DOG!

Continuing on the stuffing one's face theme, --that hot dog affair spoken of in yesterday's post.   Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest, of course!   Held each July 4th, on Coney Island.    This year conquered "by the greatest eater in the history of mankind."  (A title I answer to as well, truth be told.)   Joey Chestnut reinstated himself as king - by eating 70 hot dogs!   news

Principle in the type:  "One of the greatest weaknesses in most of us is our lack of faith in ourselves.  One of our common failings is to depreciate our tremendous worth."      L. Tom Perry

PERFECTLY YOU

Model and body-activist Ashley Graham has become the first plus-size Sports Illustrated cover model.  Though "she'd rather we do away with the" plus-size category altogether.  "It's a pretty big deal," that she models on both the cover, and the inside of the magazine spread.  Beauty comes in all sizes.  Or better yet, beauty knows no size.     story

Principle in the type:  "[We are] becoming so concerned about having perfect figures, or straight A’s, or professional status, or even absolute motherly success that we are being torn from our true selves. We often worry so much about pleasing and performing for others that we lose our own uniqueness, that full and relaxed acceptance of ourselves as a person of worth and individuality.”      Patricia Holland
