EGGS FOR THE MEMORIES

"Consumers are shelling out more for a carton of large eggs as benchmark prices in California have gone up by 150 percent in a year."   That's no yolk.  In California there is a push to require all eggs sold be from free roaming chickens, and that effects price as well.  I wonder, what came first -- freedom or the chicken?      news

After over three years of work from all involved California Habitat for Humanity recently "handed keys to nearly finished duplexes . . . built for U.S. veterans. . . . Words can’t describe the feeling and emotion of finally seeing this house come to life,” said [former U.S. Marine Cpl. This is a house from the man upstairs.”   news link

CLIMB EVERY MOUNTAIN

Who says we can't all get along??  First Lady Michele Obama and former First Lady Laura Bush are cochairs in a campaign to rediscover national parks.  They are "calling on Americans to 'Find Your Park' "  news              The National Park Foundation hopes their invitation and enthusiasm will help to increase attendance and funds for America's national parks.

ROOTING FOR YOU

"Weak roots, years of drought and a battery of rain caused a pine tree to collapse onto a group of day campers near the Rose Bowl . . . " in Pasadena, California.   "The roots left in the ground after the tree fell were girdled and relatively small . . . " reported a specialist.   No one was killed, thankfully.   news               Roots go deep with hard work, growth, and conviction.

And when we plead for relief from physical, mental, and spiritual difficulties, He may increase our resolve and resilience. "        David A. Bednar

COUSIN FEVER

I just think author A.J. Jacobs' latest project is so cool, and fun.  He has spent over a year creating the largest family tree of all time, interviewing 20-times-removed celebrity cousins and such as he goes.   We know we are all brothers and sisters, right?   "For the first time ever – thanks to mind-boggling advances in the science of family trees – we can figure out how we're related to almost any other human on earth.  It's a revolution," says Jacobs.       story
