PRISON ETIQUETTE

"A sobbing former prison worker who helped two murderers escape from a maximum-security lockup said she regretted her 'horrible mistake' as she was sentenced" yesterday in New York state.   In tears Joyce Mitchell apologized and cried throughout most of her sentencing.    news         You can't let the bad guys out of jail, lady.  I mean that's like in the Top 20 of rules, right?

Principle in the type:  "Neutrality is a nonexistent condition in this life.  We are always choosing, always taking sides.  That is part of the human experience . . . facing them not only on the good days but on the days we are down, the days we are tired, rejected, discouraged or sick. . . . It is an integral part of the human experience.    Tad R. Callister

LOSE THE 'TUDE

Grumpy Cat is getting her very own wax figure for Madam Tussaud's celebrity collection.  The first of a cat!  "Figure sculptors took her measurements and compared hair samples to replicate her fur. . . . Wax Grumpy Cat will be animatronic with 'five different movements.' "   story        Even this doesn't make Grumby cough up a smile.

DANCE HAPPY

We are off to camp this weekend, and I am doing my Happy Dance.  I'm pretty good at dancing happy, at least in my mind I am -- as what more likely happens is something like this:

Principle in the type:  "The happiest people I know are not those who find their golden ticket; they are those who, while in pursuit of worthy goals, discover and treasure the beauty and sweetness of the everyday moments.  They are the ones who, thread by daily thread, weave a tapestry of gratitude and wonder throughout their lives.  These are they who are truly happy."        Dieter F. Uchtdorf

                                                                                              Happiest happy dancing!

POPE MOBILE

For his first ever visit to the States, "Pope Francis . . . chose to ride in a tiny Fiat 500. . . . "  Surrounded by bigger security vehicles (which I am sure are necessary) and President Obama's own gigantic ride that dwarfed the Pope's wheels, "there was no fancy limousine," for him.  news           Modest is hottest?

Principle in the type:  "Being humble means recognizing we are not on earth to see how important we can become, but to see how much difference we can make in the lives of others."    Gordon B. Hinckley

AWARD YOURSELF

Andy Samberg hosted the Emmy's Sunday night, and started by poking fun at how very much television we seem to watch, or seem to be told to watch, or miss but wish we had watched.  Close behind he joked,  “The Emmys are all about celebrating the best of the year in television. So, sorry, books — not tonight! ..."    news        True whether in books or media, a fair amount of time should be spent enriching the mind versus zombifying it!

Principle in the type:  "Sometimes it feels like we are drowning in frivolous foolishness, nonsensical noise, and continuous contention.  When we turn down the volume and examine the substance, there is very little that will assist us."   Quentin L. cook
